Years ago, I wrote an essay about homelessness in America. It was raw, honest, and deeply personal. What I didn't know then was that it would become the foundation for something much bigger.

Today, that same fire lives on through House of Shaded Spaces Inc.

We are a trauma-informed transitional housing program serving young men who are aging out of foster care or the juvenile justice system. These youth are not broken. They are not beyond hope. They simply need someone to believe in them long enough for them to believe in themselves.
I know this because I was once one of them.

Back then, I wrote about the failures I saw in our system: the criminalization of homelessness, the lack of affordable housing, and the indifference of those in power. Today, I lead a program that exists because those failures still persist.

But here's the difference: now, we are doing something about it.

Shaded Spaces provides real housing. Real healing. Real hope. We build futures with structure, support, and strength. We don’t offer handouts—we offer opportunity. And we walk side by side with our youth until they can walk on their own.

This mission is personal. It’s urgent. And it’s working.
Join us. Support us. Walk with us.

Because when we invest in young people, we build a better future for all.
